Italian label converter Decograph wins BestinFlexo 2025 award for label printed on a Mark Andy Evolution Series E3 press

Decograph has been recognized during this year’s BestinFlexo 2025 awards ceremony – a prestigious competition dedicated to flexo print quality in Italy. The company took third place in the category “Combined Flexographic Techniques”. The awarded label, submitted by Decograph, was printed on a 13-inch Mark Andy Evolution Series E3 press, which is the basis of the company’s production equipment. The awards ceremony took place on November 19th in Milan, as part of FlexoDay, organized by ATIF – the Italian technical association representing companies active in the flexographic industry.

Technologically advanced label recognized by the BestinFlexo jury
Decograph submitted a label taken from its regular commercial production, thus meeting the BestinFlexo requirements for entries that have actually been introduced on the market. The project was produced on a white PP film, covered by four-colour flexo printing including two special Pantone colours (among them Pantone Gold applied on an adhesive side), as well as advanced finishing processes: matte varnish, Braille elements and hot foil stamping. As emphasized by Matteo Angiulli, owner of Decograph, this required precise integration of several techniques within a single production process: “This project clearly reflects the scope of our capabilities and the level of quality we aim to deliver. Achieving such a result would not have been possible without a stable and precise press such as Mark Andy Evolution Series E3.”

Evolution Series E3 – a key flexo solution at Decograph
The Evolution Series E3 press was installed at Decograph in 2022. It prints on a 13-inch web, is fully servo-driven and operates at speeds of up to 150 m/min. The press supports substrates ranging from 50 to 305 microns in thickness, which – as Matteo Angiulli points out – makes it a versatile solution for producing labels for Decograph’s core customer segments, including food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries. As he adds, the Evolution Series E3 currently represents one of the key elements of the company’s equipment portfolio, alongside two digital printing systems and a wide range of finishing and embellishment equipment.

FDM – long-term local sales and service support for Mark Andy in Italy
Decograph’s investment in Mark Andy technology was a result of its cooperation with FDM – Mark Andy’s exclusive representative in Italy. FDM was responsible for advisory (including press selection) and implementation, and provides ongoing local service and after-sales support. “The Evolution Series E3 is a solution well suited to the needs of medium-sized, dynamically growing converters such as Decograph. We are pleased that we were able to convince the company’s management to choose Mark Andy technology, especially as a semi-rotary offset press from another supplier had initially been considered. We are glad to contribute to Decograph’s development and market success,” says Enrico Firenze from FDM.

Mark Andy’s perspective: print quality confirmed on a demanding market
Josep Bacells, Mark Andy Sales Manager, responsible for the Italian market, adds:

“We congratulate Decograph on receiving this prestigious BestinFlexo award. The success of our customers is the best proof of the high quality and performance of Mark Andy presses. We would like to thank Decograph for its trust and decision when selecting the press in 2022, as well as for a long-term cooperation with our partner, FDM.”

According to Josep Bacells, Italy is one of the strongest and most competitive printing markets in Europe, also in context of label and packaging production: “Large number of converters, well-developed premium segment and high quality awareness among customers mean that Italian companies have to invest in technologies that ensure stability, repeatability and the ability to combine multiple processes in a single pass – such as those offered by Mark Andy. We are pleased that Decograph is among them.”

Specialization as a key to success

Decograph was established in 1970, initially focusing on wine label production. Currently, the company specializes in serving customers from food, cosmetics and pharmaceutical sectors. It continues to develop its equipment set in order to maintain high production standards and respond to growing needs of a demanding market.
“The BestinFlexo 2025 award is an important proof that the development path we have chosen is bringing results. We are also pleased with a very positive response from our customers to this recognition,” says Matteo Angiulli.
Enrico Firenze from FDM concludes: “BestinFlexo is a highly prestigious competition, recognized not only on the local Italian market, but also internationally. Once again, we congratulate Decograph and look forward to many more years of successful cooperation.”
